We are happy to share the aggregated response data from the CJU/PSU Spring 2024 Faculty Working Conditions Survey. The purpose of this survey was to gauge workplace satisfaction and morale among Penn State faculty and identify areas for improvement.
We received 203 survey responses. One respondent did not use a valid code. One submitted two responses, and so we kept only their latest response. Two did not want to disclose their role type (non-tenure-line, tenured, tenure-track, adjunct) and were excluded from the aggregate report. The spreadsheet above has aggregated data from 199 responses.
The breakdown of the 199 responses by role was as follows:
- Non-tenure-line, 86
- Tenured, 78
- Tenure-track, 27
- Adjunct/Part-time, 8
In addition, the following groups had five or more responses:
- University Park - Liberal Arts, 56
- University Park - Health and Human Development, 14
- University Park - Education, 8
- University Park - Science, 8
- University Park - Engineering, 7
- Libraries - University Park, 7
- Libraries - Commonwealth Campuses, 7
- New Kensington, 7
- University Park - Business, 6
- Erie - Humanities and Social Sciences, 6
- Harrisburg - Humanities, 5
- Altoona - Arts and Humanities, 5
There was one issue with the survey pointed out by one of the respondents. We mistakenly omitted Harrisburg - Behavioral Sciences and Education as one of the unit choices. Fewer than five respondents selected the “Commonwealth Campuses - Other” option.
